Hello!

I don't know if you know this little program but it did some miracles for me. It's DOSBox. It emulates a 486 running MS-DOS and it load for you an emulated Soundblaster. I was able to play Wing Commander 1 and Academy on Windows XP without ANY problem. You can adjust the speed of your computer with ctrl-11 (less speed) and ctrl-12 (more speed, you need to use it the first because it's configured to really slow and some game will "stutter"). The most important thing: it's free! You can find this great little program here.

Enjoy your game!
Nicolas

P.S.: I'm trying to find WC2, is it possible to send me a copy???

He's probably talking about F11 and F12?

By the way, you can also adjust the memory allocation and other parameters with the DOSBox.conf found in the the DOSBox Start Menu.

you need to mount a drive.

mount c c:\

That will make your C drive, your C drive in DosBox.

Too bad this won't work for protected mode games like Privateer.
