Subtitles in WC2 KS version

Yeah.

I'm playing the KS version of WC2...

Ordinarily, I have sound. However, my headphones (I've no speakers) are broken.

Unfortunately, there are no subtitles...At all. So I can't tell what anybody's saying in cutscenes, briefings, or the intro...

OK...How do I turn subtitles on? (There were subtitles, right?)
 
I don't recall an option to turn them off. It's possible enabling the speech disabled them.. but that wouldn't be an issue in Kilrathi Saga. Additionally, regular video scenes between missions didn't have speech, so subtitles would have to always play there.
