Sound problem with Privateer 1 and soundblaster 1024

Hi,
Im getting sound problems with priv 1 and my sound blaster live 1024 card (as its known in the UK). I have a dual boot machine and running priv through dos with the relevant setup in the autoexec.bat file.

The strangest thing is, another of my fave oldies, transport tycoon deluxe (also pure dos) works just perfectly with sound and music, so I know the irq/dma settings are not at fault.

Does anyone else have this problem with the live sound cards with privateer? The music is fine, but sound comes out all crackly and staticy.

Its either i get this to work or pull out an old soundcard (Which seems silly as this one does have the backwards support, but its no good if its all messed up!)

Thanks for your time and help....

oops, after reading a lot of the other threads, it seems like this problem is just one with the sound blaster live. better get out the old sound card then!

You can have to sound cards in your systems. I use to have a SB16 PCI and SLive. I now have a DOS machine with the SB16 PCI.

This sounds more like the P1 memory bug. Try limiting your EMM memory to 16 MB
