slightly O/T rant about SecureROM!

UGH!

I hate SecureROM... I just bought Homeworld 2 so I could plug in the WCIV fan mod...

After patching the game to the latest level, I get a SecureROM emulator launch failure!! I try disabling VLA, turning off features, even killing processes in the task manager...nothing works...


This just a few months after my Empire At War debacle... I had the same problem, EAW would fail every time after being patched to the latest level... only that time I sent the email to securerom and got a mailer Daemon back saying "this email address does not exist"

I've had problems running every game that uses SecuROM copy protection.

I will no longer be buying PC versions of games, but instead, play them on Xbox 360. If it's a PC-only release, I'll have to look at it on a case by case basis...
 
Well...they got back to me (securom that is) with links to updated executables...so I'll try it and then post the results.. might not hurt to post it under the homeworld 2 mod discussion thread for reference! Watch this space...
