Simulator Ship Review

Delance

Victory, you say?
After playing some missions on the simulator, I can offer a small review. Not before, of course, I thank the Standoff team and the CIC for this great mod and the nice web scoreboard. Thanks. Well, here it is:

Wraith – Superfighter

Stilleto – Why mass drivers rocks

Ferret – Decent if you don’t get shot

Epee – Way better than it should be

Hornet – Way worse than it should be

Crossbow – Slow

Broadsword – Slow with extra turrets

Raptor – Shares name and appearance with the WC1 ship, but not its ability to actually hit anything

Rapier II – Do what a Rapier does, kick ass

Morningstar – Good if you want 3 particle guns

Arrow – A true interceptor, all about lasers and speed, very good

Talon – Not impressive

Sabre – Good fighter, good guns, good armor, and yet not up for massive dogfight

Gladius – Good guns, bad ship

The Talon packs quite a wallop due to its good balance of gun energy usage and regeneration. It's also surprisingly tough, but a tub of lard to fly...

Except for the Hornet and Raptor having their guns too widely spaced (which would be due to the WC1 writers making them too large, I think--the Standoff design reflects the Claw Marks specs while the WC1 gameplay did not simulate the distance beetween guns accurately), the ships feel pretty much like I expected them to.
