Setting up a virtual DOS mode for WinXP

Can anybody help me on setting up a virtual DOS mode for my system? I currently run WinXP. My system is 700MHz with 256MB of RAM. Sadly, installing earlier versions of Windows (95, 98) is not an option for me.

In Fact you have WinXP i think its not possible to set up a virtual DOS mode.As you might know , XP has something like a DOS mode , but this wont help you i guess.For what reason do you want to run this mode ? If its in fact of the WC Games you dont need it.WC 2-6(Secret Ops ) run currently on my system and i even have XP.With WC 1 i havent tried it .

You could run the KS version of WC1... IF you were fortunate enuff to pick up the copy of PC Gamer that had it free a couple years back.

BTW, anyone know if PCG has any plans to get the KS versions of WC2 & 3 from Origin/EA?...

If they do another Classic Gaming CD, they'll definitely try to get WC2 KS on there.

Well, I am trying to get my copy of Privateer to run. As far as I know, this requires a "full" DOS mode. Can anybody help me on this?

KS ? Whats dat ? The classic Version ?By the way..Is PC Gamer only available in UK or USA ?Cause here in Germany i didnt see it yet.Well..Have you any experience with the Soundcard settings at WC3 ? As i posted it a few days ago the fx wont play correctly.Any suggestions ? I have a onboard soundcard (Comptbl with SB)

Yeah. Read any of the 4 billion threads on getting Privateer to run.

KS stands for Kilrathi Saga.

The WC3 settings that always worked for me were A220, I5, D1, T4 (or T6)

(actually, the T variable would depend on your "type" of sound card. I dunno what distinguishes one "type" from another; only that my first Sdcard was a generic SB compatible, and it took T4 as a setting. My second was a real SB card, and it demanded T6...)
