Secret Ops Problem with Hi-Res Mode

Hi,

i have a problem with Secret Ops and with the Hi-Res Mode from HCL.

Without Hi-Res everything works fine (in compatibility mode win98se) but after the installation of the patch the game crashes everytime in the intro.

I play the game in D3D. I tried 16 and 32 Bit and both resolutions.

Can´t figure out what the problem is !

Athlon 2,4 Ghz
Geforce 4 Ti 4200 (44.65)
Win2k Sp4 with nearly all Updates
SB Audigy

Some help would be nice

P.S: Is there a solution for the crosshairs in WCP already ?

You should try reinstalling the whole thingamajig... It is worth a try.
I tried a Glide Wrapper instead of D3D, and it worked fine, no weird crosshair stuff. Problem is that after installing the hi-res patch, the blue "glow" that frames the screen (kinda like a haze) DIDN'T resize, and so I had a blue frame framing the upper left quarter of the screen...
Does anyone have any tips?

Doesn't anyone have the same problem ?

I have installed SecretOps into the Wc5 folder.

(D:\Games\WC5\Secret Ops)

Could that be the problem ?

I have no idea

ahhh :(

P.S: Sorry for my english ;)

I am unsure of what you did exactly, but for things to works normally your should have installed Prophecy and Secret Ops in separate folders.

You should never move or rename the WCP or SO's folder after installation. If you want to have it in another location, re-install it to the new location (unless you edit the Windows registry, depending on your ability).

There can be only one instance of WCP and SO. You cannot make a copy of your WCP or SO folder elsewhere and install your patches/mods/add-ons there. It won't work.

Then WCP and SO's respective patches/mods/add-ons have to be installed in the exact same folder as the original game it's altering.
Example: Unknown Enemy has to be installed in the exact same folder as Secret Ops.

Finally, some patches/mods/add-ons might conflict with each others. Although the Unknown Enemy and Standoff mods have been designed to coexists with each other and Secret Ops.... but I am not sure if the Hi-res patch can coexist with Unknown Enemy and Standoff. Best to try a fresh Secret Ops install with the Hi-Res patch only.

Hi,

i haven't moved anything. Its just a fresh install of wcp and Secret Ops. No other Mods.
WC5 is installed to D:\Games\WC5
Secret Ops is installed to D:\Games\WC5

Without hires-mode Secret Ops works flawless, but after installation of hiresmode(v3) the game crashes in the intro.

Software mode works but looks awful.

Maybe there is a problem with german Secret Ops and Hires-Mode, do not know ?!

Re-read what I wrote:

Re-install Prophecy and Secret Ops in different folders. The hi-res patches changes a few files that share the same name for both Prophecy and Secret Ops, so your problem might be there.

Else it might be that Win2K doesn't like SO... applied the compatibility setting ?

It'd be nice if you'd post again about your problem for all the other visitors to be able to benefit from your experience. Has your problem been solved ? If so explain what solution did solve it.
