Hi folks,
I downloaded the Secret Operations starter from CIC (thanks to you guy for hosting). Does anybody know where I can get those mission files? Any help woulb be apreciated...

is there no way to download the mission files or get it emailed? Since it's freeware that wouldn't be illegal...

Read the first topic on this board. The missions are NOT freeware. They were given away for a LIMITED TIME ONLY for free. You still might find them on most warez pages as well as some actually well known sites that just didn't care when Origin ended the offer.

Stargeazer, wherever yo are, get the Prophecy Gold edition on ebay - it's legal, you don't mess around with dodgy sites, and it's a great collector's item that you can show to your grandchildren one day... :D

Just looked: There's one due in the UK in 2 days, currently at ~$1,75.

I've already got the basic edition @ ebay (germany), I've never found a gold edition there... It's a shame that ea put the wing commander series on hold an stopped selling those games, cause I played them all from the beginning. As WCP-SO came out I hadn't an internet connection, so I was unable to get it...

Your fate is universally shared with millions of fans. But as the rules of this board say, we need to keep it legal here - so no one will offer to give you the name of a site that still hosts the files.
AFAIK, WCP Gold was never released in Germany (same as Kilrathi Saga), so hop on ebay.co.uk and get it there; it can't be serious money to ship a small parcel over the channel. The English voice acting is better anyway, I never liked the German translations.

Yeah, German translations always suck. I may have found what I searched for... Thanks for your help. I understand that I'm not allowed to share the link, although it seems to be from a company. It's wierd that they don't know that they aren't allowed tho host those files.

A last suggestion for people who suffer the same fate as me: A search for the file names on lycos might help (episode2.exe ...). Hope this isn't against board policies, since it's only an advise on how to search...

AFAIR both WCP Gold (not 100% sure here) as well as the Kilrathi Saga (100% sure) had been available in Austrian shops. I do not know if they had been English or German because quite simply I didn't want either at that time. (Didn't want KS because it was Win9x, later got it for collectors purposes. Didn't want WCPG as I was rather looking for the GB version with the map and I did have a German WCP already anyhow).

One last comment to belatedly acquiring WC-SO: As already stated in other places, with WCPG you're then in a legally safe state of posessing the mission files, but AFAIK the SO fiction files are not contained in the package. By a strange coincidence, the whole legal hullaballoo doesn't apply to them obviously, because they are nicely archived in the WCnews game file section.
And thanks to cff, we can enjoy reading the stuff in the old online reader frontend while safely sitting offline on the couch.

Actually the whole legal... also applies to them. That is why my package did not contain that files. They are finally mirrored at wcnews as well as they are in one zip file on my page because they would be lost otherwise. There is no way to get them anymore not even commercial as you said.
Technically it is still not legal to have them for download and I'd remove them upon request.

We asked for and recieved permission to post the missing fiction files.

WCP Gold was certainly released in Germany -- the German version is the reason it doesn't have the fiction in the first place.

Sorry, I didn't know that - and I actally never saw it, although I was in Germany too around 1998/99. It must not have sold too well, because after a cursory scan, I don't see one on German auction sites or software sites...

But pray tell me - why was the German release the reason for the missing fiction? Did they object against the use of bugs, or claim copyright on the term 'invasion'?
:D
