Save problem in Kilrathi Saga

When i play WC1 or WC2 in Kilrathi Saga i cannot save the games.

For example, in WC1, I can go the bunks, click on one & get the box to type my save game name. However, the curser in the box doesn't move & letters that are typed appear very slowly or not at all. The enter key has no affect. The screen shot is Ok & the music still plays.

The only way i can extit is to exit the game with Alt X or reboot.
Ctrl Alt del tells me 'that Kilarathi saga is not responding'.

(John, i've read all the manuals & been to Origins site but no info. on this problem & i've run Defrag etc.)

Any ideas anyone?

What operating system do you use? What computer? It sounds like you have other running programs that may be interfering with the game. If so, use alt-ctrl-delete to shut down all nonessential running programs. Also, make sure your anti-virus is NOT set to scan all files all the time, as this causes all kinds of problems. You can set it to scan all files when doing a manual scan, and to scan program files or executables/limited files while running normally in the background.

I am using W98SE.

I tried your sugestion of closing all other programs before i run the game but it hasn't helped.

I'm out of ideas then. With my Kilrathi Saga, WC3's movies play with spikes of interference and skips. Nothing I do with hardware acceleration helps (unlike Prophecy). Playing it in a window with alt + enter reduces, but does not eliminate it. The DOS WC3 I have plays the movies just fine!!! This makes the DOS the better version , although the sound in the KS's WC3 is fine, and the game seems to play better in the KS version. The joystick is still poorly responsive when pulling up in both versions.

Have you tried WC2 in DOS, to see if you have save game problems there too (You will need the DOS version, cheap on EBAY, and no slow-down utility is needed, but you may need a boot disk).

I noticed that when the problem occurs the Cd seems to stick, the 'activity light on the CD drive, plusatiing on & off'.

I re-installed the program via my Plextor CDRW & it worked fine. I have some subsequent delays, where the text takes time to be entered but it gets there in the end.

The CD doesn't seem to be damaged or have severe scratches but perhaps thats where the problem lies.
