Running WC4 in Windows

I'm trying to install WC4 in windows. Apparently to get it to work, I need WC4 for DOS already to be installed. Well, when I run install.bat and setup.bat off the CD. It won't run because it won't go to full screen for the DOS setup. Any insight? Thanks guys
 
there is a patch to run wc4 in windows, i think you can get it off of the files sections, it will say it's for win95 but i've had it work for winxp, 98 and so on
 
I believe it expects the DOS version to be installed already though? and that's the part I'm having trouble with. Running the exe alone says it "can't find the game on the hard drive or the CD rom drive." Whatever that means
 
The game has to be installed first, but I thought you could do that from Windows. If you have Win95 or 98, just boot straight to DOS (press F8 on startup) and install the game there. Then go back to windows and install the patch.

Or maybe you have Windows 2000, and then we might have a problem...

Please post your system specs.
 
Thanks for your help. I figured out the problem and it was pretty obscure. I run dual monitors using two video cards (1 PCI 1 AGP) after disabling the PCI one I was able to run the DOS install from WinXP and now the game plays for me. Thanks for everyone's help.
