I AM A COMPLETE IDIOT WITH WINDOWS 98. WHAT CHANGES NEED TO BE MADE TO RUN PRIVATEER/RIGHTEOUS FIRE IN WINDOWS 98. PLEASE HELP.IT KEEPS TELLING ME THERE ISN'T ENOUGH MEMORY IN DOS TO RUN APPLICATION AND THEN WINDOWS RESTARTS.

You need to run Privateer from pure DOS, with enough conventional memory available. Perhaps releasing CAPS LOCK would free up the necessary byte or two? The best thing to do would be to make a boot disk. If older threads are no help, post the contents of your autoexec.bat and config.sys files here, and and someone will set you up.

Don't mind him, anmal592, Kris is just trying to be helpful... :)

But he's right, you need to reboot your system in MS-DOS mode (Start menu - Shut Down - Restart in MS-DOS), but before you do that, you'll certainly need a bootdisk...

If you have the "Classics" version of Privateer (i.e. the CD-ROM version), there should be instructions on how to make a bootdisk included in the game manuals...
Try following those, Privateer under DOS needs a substantial amount of DOS and EMS memory available, and that's what a boodisk is for...
If you still can't manage to run the game with the instructions manual bootdisk, ask for help in this forum... Guys like Johnl12 will be happy to lend a hand... :)
