Republic Commando

Victory, you say?
Now there's a nice squad based sapce FPS game. Quite good. The Squad AI is great. Anyone here had a chance to play it as well? The best one since, say, Terranova: Strike Force Centauri.

I'm buying my new PC specificly so I can play that game and UT2004. :)

I have it, is good, pretty short, just 3 campaigns with 4-6 missions each.

What i hate is if theres is specialist for some tasks, Scorch-Demolitions, fixer-h4ck1ng, and Sev-Snipng; why eveyone can do everything, it takes the same time to Fixer to plant a bomb than Scorch.

Also...i hate those trandoshans, shorty fat dudes?, i expected something like Bossk.

Also IIRC is the first SW game that doesn't begin with the classical intro.

I felt the same way about the Trandoshans. They are supposed to be Wookie hunters, so why are they so small, and it takes like 5 of them to take down 1 Wookie. But the game as a whole was great, except that the I thought it ended to quickly. I started the game and the next thing I knew it was over.

I've heard all the same complaints. Someone described your team mates as nothing more than "guns that do [all the specialty skills] just as well as the next".

Got it, played it and thought it was pretty good but it is way too short and a bit repetitive. But from what I hear there will either be added content or an expansion pack added to coincide with the Release of the new movie a good bit of which is supposed to be focused on the battle of Kasshyk.

Would you recommend the game to others? I thought about picking it up last weekend but bought Gran Turismo 4 instead. I'm undecided if i will get it or not.

Hmm, I thought about getting this game last week but instead got Mechassault 2: Lone Wolf, bad decision. LW is good but the plot to single player is pure rubbish. Online play isn't as fun as anticipated either.

Well I bought it on X-box so with the save game files on my hard drive I might just trade it in and buy another new release because with the single player campaign as it is it just doesn't constitute enough of an experience to be called a great game, but if there was added content I would definately keep it(multiplayer I have no clue about because I can't get my X-box live to wrk)

Definatley a try before you buy game, Good not excellent and definately not a halo killer.

I like the game a lot. And it's not supposed to be a halo killer. In the PC it is pretty good.

Two more cross plataform games that are even better on the PC: Brothers in Arms (which delance thought it was too hard, ahahaha, wimp) and Chronicles of Riddick. Riddick is a trully triple A game, lots of cool things to do, really excellent graphics and good story.

And by "really good history" edmo means "nice shader effects on the space prison toilets".

Oh, that WWII game is nice, once you get to know how to freaking play it. Consoles.

Considering that *I* have played Riddick and *you* only flushed the game's toilet a couple times, then your opinion is of no consequence, ehehehehe.

But the story is actually kinda interesting. A lot better than Doom 3's one, fo sure.

And BiA's difficulty has nothing to do with its console origins... The game plays just fine with mouse and keyboard.

I've only played the Republic Commando pc demo and while parts of it were quite fun, I wasn't tempted enough to go out and buy it -- I can wait until it goes to the bargain bin!

Riddick on the other hand was a much more tempting offer -- the gritty atmosphere and voice-acting, high-end visuals and fairly unique and unexpected gameplay dynamics, led me to rush out and buy it straight away after playing it at a mate's house. I was surprised that it had slipped under my radar, as well as many other gamer's it seems judging from various reactions on some other forums I frequent.

The only drawbacks are the game's pretty steep pc requirements (I found it more demanding than Farcry, Doom3 and HL2 on my rig) and that the game it is a bit on the short side, but at its current price, the game is a steal and well worth playing. Check out the demo to get a taste for it.

Cheers,

BrynS

I can't wait to get my grubby hands on Brother In Arms. Probably Riddick too.

Riddick is supposed to be pretty easy with some poor A.I., poor scripting (e.g if you kill a certain guy its impossible to continue on with the plot etc, etc) and other issues that diminish its quality but the reviewer said that if you followed the plot to the letter and played it on the hardest setting it would probably be a more enjoyable experience.

P.S. The show that I watched the review from is a Scottish Comedy/Videogame show called 'Consolevania' that is distributed on the internet (but has just been picked up by the BBC), Its reviews are pretty thourough and they also do wee comedy sketches that are funny (they're not to everyones tastes, offensive language and content) So if you have bit torrent please look it up on google or something.

I haven't played for long... but it is neither too easy or too hard for me so far.
As for the scripting... well, if you kill someone you needed alive, then it is your mistake. anyway, the quick save shouls help you undo the said mistake.
