Prophecy Mission Help

I have Prophecy (not SO) and have figured out how to do some modding (mainly modifying ships ingame to have stuff like proper firing points) and would like to play custom missions. However, I can't get any to work at all. It's been a little time since I stopped but I do have the HCI patch and other things that should let me. Could any shed light or will I have to download SO?
 
Compared to SO, WCP is harder to mod and edit, since it gets it's data from other sources rather than your hard drive. All I know is how to edit the actual guns, missiles, speed, etc. Not the meshes.
 
I don't mean meshes but I've figured out how to edit them anyway. I mean I can't do any missions, but I'll try to get SO this weekend. What do you mean by other sources? You mean it gets ingame (non-movie) data off the CD?

And what are the differences between Prophecy and SO modding anyway? Is SO easier to use?
 
The basics of what little I know is that Secret Ops looks for data files in directories first, then inside the compressed TRE files. Prophecy does it the other way around, so there is more hacking involved.

Of course, it's been a while since I've read about Secret Ops modification development. At any rate, downloading Secret Ops is no longer a problem, with it being released for free.
