Prophecy High Res patch on Vista

hi, i recently installed WCP on my Vista x64 computer, which installed fine. But when i try to run install.exe for the high res patch, the program just fails, with windows giving a "install_gui has stopped working" dialog.

i tried running it in compatibility mode for XP and 98, but the program just generates a 88kb patch.tre before terminating without any dialog.

Can anyone help?

The patch.tre will be very small if you have't already copied everything over. Did you copy the necessary files off the disc to the patch folder?

yeah, i copied the required files into the patch folder as instructed.

Hmm not sure about that one actually. I suppose it could be a bug in my
code triggered by some specific circumstances, but i can't tell if it's
due to Vista, since i still use XP. However, my department should be
getting Vista licenses early next week, so i will try running a few
tests on the High-res installer under Vista by then.

thanks! well, i did find a temp solution... i copied the required files and the patch files to my laptop running winxp, patched it, and copied the patched files back to my vista system. the game run perfectly!
