Prophecy & D3D

Anyone got lens flares + fog working in D3D-mode?
Pretty stupid to leave those effects out from D3D, and
quite redickelous too because now 3DFX is dead and buried.
So much of that stimulation of Voodoo marketing...

I got lens flares working, but it seems somehow buggy.
There are strange crosses in center of every flare,
looks kind a ugly on my WinXP Pro, GF2 MX400 + v12.41.
The reason for quite old drivers is monitor power saving
that doesn't work well with newer DetonatorXP-drivers.

I can't use the w2k-patch and lens-flare patch in one
time anyway. Has anyone of the fans been so active and
made a patch that enables both effects in D3D?

That's just an unfortunate feature of D3D, same as how some targetting reticles are barely visible, if at all.

That's why I play it in software mode.

It'd be faster for me if I played in software mode too, but I think the improvements in D3D far outweigh the shortcomings, so I persevere with D3D.

sigh.....

If you have a GF2, then go into your display properties, go to the GeForce tab, and click on the "Additional Properties" button. Go to the Direct3D button. You'll see a slider indicating the texel alignment. Set it to 7, or "Upper left corner", and all graphical problems should be gone. Hell, your targeting reticle should be fucking waving to you it'll be so happy.

Hey! Has someone tried one of those "wrappers" that convert Glide
commands to D3D? So theoretically I could get all the effects working
on my GF2 with a glide wrapper.

Yes. Some work properly, some don't. But they're definately a viable solution if you want to try.
