Problems with Privateer 2 and Gameport

At my mainboard, a EPOX 8KH+, a gameport is included. Because playing privateer 2 with a mouse is stupid, i would like to use a joystick. Problem: I dont have DOS-Drivers which whom i can activate the gameport. I also visit the EPOX-Web-Page, but did not find any DOS-Drivers. Using windows 98 the gameport works without errors, but privateer 2 is not running under windows. Can anybody help me with drivers? Or another solution for my problem? Thanks

What joystick do you have? Is it by any chance USB?
Or at least a digital joystick?
In both cases it probably won't work in DOS.
I am not 100% sure, but I doubt that you need a driver to activate your gameport. That would be strange. Try a different (preferably age old 2 button) joystick.

PS: You can play P2 very well in Win98. Just right click on the executable and set "don't allow detection of windows by dos based programs" (something like that - I am translating from German here). Voila - Privateer 2 runs.
