im a bit vague with this problem but if anyone wants to help and needs more info to solve problem i can provide thanks everyone! its been awhile since ive posted
any help is appreciated

WCKS has some minor issues with XP and some major ones with Windows 2000. At the very least you'll probably need to enable compatibility mode. Did you try the Windows 2000 KS patch that we have in the CIC Files section?

To enable compatibility mode:

1. Make sure you are running SP4 with the latest version of everything (drivers and directx).
2. If you have not yet, run this command in start > run: regsvr32 %systemroot%\apppatch\slayerui.dll
3. Create a shortcut to the file you want to run
4. Bring up the shortcut's properties (right-click menu) and enable Windows 95 compatibility mode (which will now be enabled from the above step)
5. Run the program *using the shortcut*

So you need an updated 2K, you have to turn on compatibility mode via command line entry, and then you can only enable compatibility mode via a shortcut link.

SP4?? when you dl patch then what?

What are you asking? You should be able to download and install the "Service Pack 4" update for windows 2000 edition from microsofts site. Then follow chris' instructions to enable the compatability mode.

ok did everything youve instructed me but once i hit enter to skip intro it briefly shows the start campaign button, flashes, and goes back to desktop i made a shortcut of the wcks icon and used that
i downloaded patch off website and dont know how to unzip it

ok i unzipped patch made by "nstriker" at the website and double clicked it
when the patch creation wizard window comes up i click patch and gives me an error "couldnt open file" so i end up having to exit.
will i definitely need this patch?

Try puting the patch exe into the folder and run it after. Also Have you changed yhe install directory from anything other than the default location? Reinstalling the game in the default location might help too.

into what folder? the kilrathi saga game folder or just make a folder? and do you mean run it after i try to execute the game?

Yeah, sorry about that. I meant to type "into the game folder."

well ive tried again and this time i actually have sound at the intro but its doing the same thing i uninstalled and reinstalled the game i dragged and dropped the patch into the game folder still no gurantees the intro runs great but as soo as i hit a key or click the mouse it takes me back to my desktop with the wcks window up i keep trying but still does the same thing im running the shortcut to the game in windows 95 compat. mode
after dragging and dropping the patch in the game folder i proceeded to explore the game folder and tried installing the patch there but still gave me the usual message like before
did i leave anything out?

most of the crashes I experienced with Kilrathi saga were resolved by lowering the priority of the game while the intro was running.

are you saying let the intro run until the end then hit a button? or what?

just to point out how i did it, i didint have Service pack 4 installed with the windows2000, once i installed it though it played and ran fine but i lost my disc 3 of KS which makes the game absolutely worthless i cant play wc3 Doh!!
