Problems installing WC3 & WC4 in Win98

I'm having trouble installing much less playing WC3 & WC4 on my computer. I tried the directions to no avail. I have a Cirix 686 with Win 98, I need help installing the DOS WC4 and the DOS native WC 3 that was the Classics Edition.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have a method I've used 4 years that can possibly help U out: It has 2 do w/ setting up the programs properties sheets (or that of the shortcuts that you create 4 'em in W9x). I've used it to make (many) DOS games work under Win 9x, and I've successfully used this method 2 get WC3 (--and possibly WC4, I can't recall--) 2 work under Win 95.

It's summarized in a TXT file somewhere on one of my systems.
If you want me to search 4 it, e-mail me and I'll try to get it 2U--otherwise, I'm just 2 lazy 2 bother at the moment ;)

WC4: Go here for the WC4 Windows 95 Upgrade patch. This will let you play WC4 DOS in Windows.
https://www.wcnews.com/files.shtml#wc4

WC3: Here try this below. I wrote this for P2 DOS but the icon configuration stuff should work for WC3 and other DOS game too.

This will instruct you on how to install and play P2 from within a DOS window (Full-screen).

First if you haven't already done so get the P2 Patch here:
https://www.wcnews.com/files.shtml

Open My Computer and right click on the CD-ROM drive that P2 is in. Choose Explore than right click on the Install.exe file. Choose Properties > Program tab > Advanced button. Check the "Prevent ms-dos base programs from detecting Windows" box and uncheck the "Suggest MS-DOS mode as necessary" box. Click okay, okay. Now double click the Install.exe file. You can now auto-detect the sound card and install this game.

Now you must now do the P2 patch. Once this has been done, right click on the C:\DARK\DARK.EXE file and choose "Copy". On the Desktop right click and choose "Paste Shortcut". Now as before right click on the shortcut you just created. Choose Properties > Program tab > Advanced button. Check the "Prevent ms-dos base programs from detecting Windows" box and uncheck the "Suggest MS-DOS mode as necessary" box. Click okay, okay. You can now play P2 within a DOS window. No extra Autoexec.bat and Config.sys files needed.

Calibration:
While in flight mode hit "Alt-O". When you are in the calibration screen on the right there are instructions. Read them. You're supposed to get the square as small as possible without the ball going outside it. Use the - and + to decrease and increase the dead zone. I prefer my digital Joystick too.
