Since I'm a retrogaming buff, I've set up a DOS rig from various old computer parts to play all the old DOS games in the environment they were written for; DOSBox sure is cool, but I like the real thing :O)
Anyway, the result is a Pentium 233MMX with 32 MB RAM, an ISA-soundcard, 24x CD-ROM etc. (I've even managed to get my hands on an old 14-inch CRT display so it looks more retro ;O)
I've encountered a weird problem with the original Privateer though. The game is actually running *too slow* in normal cockpit gameplay, even the music is too slow!
What is even weirder is that the music and animation runs normal in the autopilot sequence (and on planets and bases, the intro movie is also running normally).
Did anyone else ever have that problem? Maybe my copy of Privateer is busted somehow (it's the disk version, not cd-rom)...
Also, can anyone recommend a good slowdown utility for DOS (freeware preferably) that works well with the original Wing Commander 1 & 2?
