When I try to play Privater, I get stuck on the joystick calibration screen. My joystick is being recognized by the game though (the calibration process moves on when I press a joystick button), but everytime I get to the end, it tells me the calibration was incorrect and makes me redo it.

Any ideas? I'm using WinXP with DOB box 0.61

The joystick is an old Gravis Blackhawk (not digital) that runs through a gameport.

i have same problem
using xp and dosbox 0.61 with joystick it's no possible
my ship it's turning around it's axis
no possible to manoeuvre
also i edit the config file and put 1 - joystick
1- throtlle

but no chage

I have no problem playing privateer with a joystick on winxp and dosbox 61. I had to buy a new usb joystick, but it seems to be working fine. It's not quite as smooth as i remember it, but still playable.

Maybe this quote from another Thread can help you:
I was getting an error when attempting to calibrate my joystick upon running Privateer for the first time, through MyJemm. It would say that the calibration was invalid or something similiar. I would then be stuck in an endless calibration loop.

But I have discovered a work around for this. The joystick I was using was working fine. It was a simple two axis, two button model. But it couldn't get past the calibration routine. If the joystick was unplugged the game would proceed normally, but even if the joystick was then plugged in, it would still not work.

Here is the solution. I discoved that if I plugged in a gamepad, in my case a Gravis Destroyer, (A cheap ten dollar model.) I could calibrate the gamepad normally and get into the game. I then discovered that if after that I plugged in my joystick it worked like a charm.

The reason why the joystick didn't at first work is beyond me. But apparently, the game will not allow any joystick to function until SOMETHING has passed the calibration check.

So, short end of the story is try to use a gamepad to get past the routine. Another joystick might work, but I have my doubts.

Hope this helps.
Yes, it's with myJemm, but the Joystick bug does even occure without any Emu Proggy, but pure DOS. So it still might help you.
Other than that, no idea what else to do :(
