Yes its crazy, I have finally managed to get privateer to work almost flawlessly thanks to the awesome forum...But the Sound FX are all messed up. here are my system configurations.

Win98SE
Turtlebeach Montego A3D
128mb RAM
400mhz,

here is my Autoexec

SET PATH=a:\;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\PROGRA~1\SSHCOM~1\SSHSEC~1
SET TMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
SET TEMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
SET WINBOOTDIR=A:\TBEACH
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D3 T4
LOADHIGH a:\tbeach\asp4dos.com
LOADHIGH MOUSE.COM
REM LOADHIGH MSCDEX.EXE /D:mscd001
PROMPT $p$g

This is my Config sys

DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
DOS=UMB,HIGH
DEVICEHIGH=EMM386.EXE RAM 4096 i=b000-b7ff
FILES=30
BUFFERS=30
REM DEVICE=mtmcdai.SYS /D:mscd001

Ive tried updating, and changing sound driver configurations, made sure the IRQ's were correct, the DMA was correct the PORT was correct, tried a variety of settings and sound card options under the INSTALL command for priv, and I still cant get the damn Sounds to work, it sounds like horrible jarbled static. And to be honest, even the music sounds a bit off (but otherwise plays decent). If I turn off the sound FX, the It converts to text in the cut sequences, but what fun is that. Does anyone have any ideas how i could get the sounds to work? Otherwise the game is running 90% clean.

In the past, sound problems were usually solved by reducing memory to 16MB, since for some reason Privateer didn't like having more than that. I don't know if it will help any, but I suppose you could try replacing the above with:

DEVICE=EMM386.EXE RAM 16384 I=B000-B7FF

I just registered, thanks for the reply wedge, ill give it a try. If all else fails, I think I still have a SB16 somewhere that ill try and load up ;).

Anything under 32 megs should actually do it.. He already has 4 megs.. so not sure about that there.
