Privateer Throttle problem

Ok I finally got privateer 2 to work in dosbox, but my keyboard throtte commands are all screwed up the "-" will reduce to zero speed the "+" does nothing and the "\" will set my speed to the max. However on privateer 1 the ship launches at 1/2 speed and I can only reduce it. Once reduced it will to allow me to increase it. Any Ideas?
