Privateer sound problems with vortex 2

I am trying to Privateer working with both music ans sound effects but at this point the music works fine , the sound effects have problems. when ever some one is talking some times i get no sound till about the middle of the conversations then it goes to static other times it just static

Here are my config.sys and autoexc.bat files for my boot disk

my sound card is a Montego II that uses the vortex 2 chipset
system specs
p1 233 64 megs ram 5 gig harddrive

try changing ur autoexec.bat to:

shell=a:\COMMAND.COM
LH MSCDEX.EXE /D:banana /L
LH AU30DOS

u shouldn't need to set ur sound settings, as the au30dos sets them when it loads. if this doesn't work, post back and take a deeper look.
 
Still no go

well still no luck, still doing the same thing
also
Shell=a:\command.com
errors out, i thought that had to go in the congfig.sys file

i've got a diamond mx300, it is the same as ur Montego II.
i've been fiddling with ia all day, an i've got the same problem, but only with privateer, it works fine with wc3.
i'll keep at it and let u know what i find

Thanks for trying to help me out. I have it working fine on other old dos games too just not privateer, thats what was stumping me.

what really pisses my off is, i know i used to play privateer with the same card years ago. its the same computer and everything, my only guess, is that it is a motherboard thing, i did replace the mobo in the computer with a slighty old version, the bios is older.
so maybe it is an IRQ thing.

just so i know, what kind of computer r u running?
type of mobo?
CPU?
ram?

the computer is a "POS" HP that someone loaned me while i wait to get my good computer fixed "Bad mobo". I thought i would try to get some old games running since i cant run in of the new games i have.

pentium 1 233 Mz
64 mg ram "simm"
Phoniex BOIS

thats about all i know about it
i had to put my sound card in it because it no longer had a sound card.
