Privateer: Program halted by code

I have downloaded and played Privateer before on another computer, but when I tried it on another computer I got this weird error message in Msdos. Here were my commands:
C:\windows>D:
D:\>cd\priv
D:\PRIV>priv
Fatal error.
Error Code: 1308-FFFF
Program halted by code
I did get some slightly different responses each time. One time it seemed to be scanning the image and then the printer started printing this out without prompting. I could only take out the printer paper and I can't figure out how to get either the game or the printer to work. Can anyone help me here? I mostly want to know whether its the games fault or my computer. I am also using Qemm97 if that is useful.

you know, you really ought to get a legitimate version rather than a warez one, try buying it off ebay in cd format, that should work with windows 95 (i think)

as a piece of advice, don't put warez address names on the board, that will get you into hot water with the admins as it is against the rules of the board and is also illegal
