Privateer and Armada on XP Problem (JEMM not EMS))

Hi,

I've been able to get rid of the EMS problem with dosbox for these games but then I still get the "can't find JEMM overlay" problem and MyJEMM doesn't seem to work for XP.

Does anyone know a way to solve this?

Thanks.

Awesome! I got it working... well sorta (very slow with no sound).

I didn't realize that I had to actually installl it through Dosbox.

You don't, actually, in my experience. The only thing I ever had to actually install through DOSBox itself is WC2 Deluxe. The problem in DOSBox with Priv and Armada for most people is that you need to change an option, namely, you need to set EMS=False in dosbox.conf. Setting XMS=False might not be a bad idea either, just to free up resources.

As for sound... I haven't messed with that in a while. I usually just turn it off, actually. Let's see if we can boost your performance a little, shall we? What version of DOSBox are you using, what are the settings therein, and what are your system stats?

Welcome to the boards, Beeblebrox, glad to have you here.

EDIT: And you're right, as far as I know, MyJEMM doesn't work under XP for some reason,

Well it doesn't work because unlike the earlier 95/98/ME, the NT based systems (NT/2000/XP) do not run on an underlying DOS layer. Myjemm needs that underlying DOS to work.

I'm having a problem too. I disabled EMS and XMS, however when I type Armada.exe to start the game, it will get to 'initializing XMS' and then it just goes straight back to the command prompt. Does the same thing even with XMS on. I've got no idea what it is.
