Privateer AGAIN!!

Ok, after trailing thru 100's of the posts on this site ive finaly come to a conclusion, a dedicated FULL FIX needs to be dealt with

As im also having problems running the game [#1910] error i think the best thing to do is for someone in the know to post a link to a ZIPPED file that basicaly has all the FILES one would transfer onto a floppy to boot from including a README telling them where they would need to alter any USER specific fields

PLEASE, as ive tried to run this game and cant

Thank you

"Not possible, ace." :)

Not practical, in any case. Every computer is different, remember the hype that was the Y2K Bug scare? People testing those computers for Y2K 'compliance' had to test every computer, even those with the same make and model sitting on the same shelf in the same store...

Now, I'm not suggesting Privateer is that bad, but it seems to me that most people don't have problems with getting it to work in a Windows 9x pure DOS boot. It seems to be the sound card which causes most of the problems, and I don't think there is going to be one 'fix' to solve everyone's problems.

It is possible, because i simply booted up from using a standard bootdisk and modified the CONFIG.SYS on it so that it had the emm286 support that ppl have posted in here

I didint change anything else and the only thing i would NEED to change would be to add soundcard info or a mouse.exe line

Worked for you, might not work for others. ;)

eg I can play Privateer on a Windows 95 system with no more than EMM386 and a CD driver. With sound. Doubt everyone else will be able to do the same.
