I've finally got Privateer 2 to run OK but the mouse behaves in a strange way in the PAD and navigation screens but works fine elsewhere.
The problem is that the mouse does not move at all unless one of the buttons is clicked; if you hammer the buttons you can move across the screen very slowly.
The problem does not occur in space or on planets
