Privateer 2 application error

Hey all,
New to the forums. Running P2 on my 2.1Ghz, got the patch installed. I run into this problem. If i try and take off a planet/station, 3/4 times i get a black screen and anther task bar item "C:Dark-Application error". I have to close manually. THis happens on Ahurn and Crius the most. This i can tolerate (unless theres a fix) but I am to the point in the game where i have to go to kappa labs on the edge of the system. After walking around and gettin freaked out, you autolaunch-not able to save. Disk 1 is the only disk i can take off with, 2 and 3 wont do it ever. The kappa labs scene is a disk 2 event. I cant switch the disk without it freezing and i cant take off, so i cant save. Im not sure where else to turn on this one. I have the deluxe edition. I tried using a dosbox but it just says "win 95 application" which makes sense...any help?

Was this the deluxe edition to start with? If so applying a win95 patch to it wont help and may actually create problems. If its the dos version, you could try reinstalling without the patch and see if it works ok in dosbox after that. Otherwise check to see if the disks are clean. If its the win95 version though make sure you set the P2 executables compatability mode to win95/98.
 
Is it actually freezing when you switch to disc 2? Are you sure you're hitting spacebar and taking other measures so the game knows the disc is there?
 
It is the deluxe editon. The patch i applied is the slowdown patch so its playable. i can swtich disks and watch the cutscenes just fine. Once there over i have to put disk 1 in to launch to space, and that only works about 1/4 times. But with the kappa labs scene, it just jumps right to launch, so i cant change the disk back. Can i change the disk mid-movie? and whats this about spacebar-hadnt heard of anything about that. Disks 2 and 3 are pristine-never used (i got the interplanetary aid bug the first time and though i just had to keep going and going). disk one is scatched pretty good, but its the only one that wil llet me launch out. sigh. No, you can't change a disc while a movie is playing. When the screen prompts you to change discs, you may need to press the space bar to show you've inserted the correct disc. You might also try something like Daemon Tools and mount all your discs. Since you have the Windows version, it's possible this could circumvent having to switch them.
