Privateer 2 again

So i didn't find my own issue here and that's the reason, why i make a new thread.
In an old box i found privateer 2: The Darkening and i wanted to play it on my new PC (P4, 3,2 GhZ, 2 GB RAM and WIN XP Prof).
So... there's no problem, installing the game and starting it worked, after i channged the dark.cfg to a directory with the whole CD in it. :)

But when i try to play the game, my mouse gets stuck and i cannot do anything with it. I'm not sure, if my USB-Joystick will work with the game and in the movies i get a kind of small distortions :)

Any Ideas? :)

Oh... EDIT Says i do not have a floppy in my new machine ;)
 
Let's run through the usual suspects:
- You're running Priv2 in XP compatibility mode? (assuming, since it runs, that it's the Win95 version of Priv2)
- Your mouse and your joystick are USB devices?
- You are getting sound or graphics distortions in the movies?

Them old games need all the details, man.

it tried both... with and without this mode... same behavior

The mouse should be PS2 und the Joystick is a USB-device

"- You are getting sound or graphics distortions in the movies?"

it's a graphic failure (not heavy and i think i could accept it :) )
