Possible WCP Demo/Secret Ops problem

Alright I'm fairly new to the WC universe and I'm running a system that WC was never designed for so I freely admit it could be a combination of my own lack of knowledge and my system having issues with the program itself but anyway here is my problem:

I recently downloaded both the secret ops package and the Wing commander prophacy demo from the wcnews website. The idea was to test the demos and iron out all the bugs before i got the full package. Anyway the Secret ops pack was missing a dll and the prophecy demo just wouldn't run. apperently a software glitch related to my operating system.

anyways now for the specs.

2.3 gig pentium 4
windows xp professional
nvidia GeForce 4 graphics card
256mb ram
soundblaster live sound card

somehow I think its a problem with the downloads themselves. I've never seen this brought up on a tech support thread so i thought i would see if anybody had an idea about what to do.

If you post exact error messages it would probably of help.

What I'd try first is to pick SOFTWARE rendering and to run the game in Win9x compatibility mode.
 
secret ops and prophecy demo issues

the secret ops demo just won't play. I've reset the compatability modes and such. its on the drive it just won't play. i get an error message saying it won't run. nothing spacific. just it won't run and contact microsoft if you would like.

as for the prophecy demo. I can't even get that far.

I get an error message saying that glide2x.dll can't found so the program won't even go through a complete installation.

its rather frustrating and I have no idea what to do. I've tried all the simple stuff I can think of

any ideas?
 
You don't need Prophecy to play Secret Ops, it's a standalone game.

Did you download the Prophecy demo, or the Prophecy test? The test only works with 3Dfx based boards (Voodoo, Voodoo 2 through 5, Voodoo Rush, Banshee).
