So... externally mounted missiles & torps and WC3 era ships?

And couple of sort of related clips...

TCS Amadeus blowing up.

I always figured that by this era, the missiles would be mounted in a launcher such as in Privateer.

I thought that the hellcat was the only fighter to "officially" store the missiles internally in bays. Pod systems are also considered externally mounted AFAIK.

Most of the fighters in Prophecy have ports visible for internal missile storage. A handful of older craft such as the Broadsword in WC2 and Privateer do as well.

Well we are all forgetting to say:

Looks Great!!!

There's a difference between forgetting to say something, and not agreeing with it.

Speaking solely for myself, I'm covered by the latter option.

Well... I have always liked WC1 and WC2 a lot more than WC3.. And ships from that 'era' did seem to have external missiles.. well according the weapons display anyway.. Or then just odd single missile sized launch tubes.

Looks nice, although the missiles look a little too big -

WC missiles are 2-2.5m in length and the Hellcat is 27m long...

Don't forget the WC1 blueprints. They clearly show external hardpoints.

Which would be fine if the Saga team was modeling a craft from WC 1 or 2, neither of which had all those missiles available on any one ship.

(Yes, as per the cartoon both ships were present in the WC1 era, but neither in the form modeled in Saga or WC3.)

That's my primary dislike about Wanderer's design. Yes, he put some effort into it; I'm not knocking that. I just think that with all those missiles external it clutters up the model, and to me that makes it look silly.

Yeah, those missiles are way too big. Smaller missiles would probably fit better.

Main point with those was to make the existing ordnance visible.. That is if you shoot a missile you can then see it missing from the fighter afterwards.

Well I think that the missiles mounted directly to the fighters (not inside some kinda tube) disturbe the shape of theese fighters. e.g. look at the hornets wings - they are a little bit too thick for theese missiles. the ship doesn't look like there should a missile "belong" under its wings. But please don't blame me for that opinion, dudes. I agree, that it was a quiete an effort to do smthg. like that in the game engine, but there is just "some little thing" which disturbes me about the missiles right on the ship meshes.

If you mean the Hellcat i completely agree, but if you're infact talking about the Hornet, its blueprints shows that it's supposed to have them under its wing. :)
