Im not sure if it is my config, or the fact im using PC-Dos?
All the tests go well, sound works, speed test is good.
I setup my joystick, save and launch.

It craps out when trying to play the avi.

I am thinking PC-DOS cant play the avi.

What kind of pc are you using? Is this winXP? You apply the win95 patch and set the compatability mode?

No, This machine is running in pure pc-dos 2000

p3 500mhz
128 ram
10 gig harddrive
cdrom
soundlblaster 16 gameport gravis blawk hawk analog
matrox 450+ 16mb video

It may very well be PC-Dos, something I'm admittedly unfamilar with. I assume it's supposedly completely compatible with MSDOS 6.2? It won't be an AVI problem because wc4 has its own codec. However it very well could be a video driver problem. Is there a way for you to force a VESA mode? Are there alternate dos drivers for your card available?

I am installing ms-dos 6.22 now on this box as I speak.
Yes the matrox card is is supported well.
All video tests where are go.

I am hoping it is just pc-dos 2000

If it still doesnt work after this, I am switching back to ibm pc-dos 2000, I love that old thing.

I would deffinitely look for drivers for both sound and video cards it you intend to continue with PCDOS and can't get it running. IT could be either one that freezes the game as soon as it tries to initialize either sound or video. Though you has sound in the installer so I would guess it's more likely a video driver problem.

Fixed the problem.
Im now running ms-dos 6.22
I am using a soud blaster 16 pci with the emulation drivers.
At the install menu I had to select "sound blaster or compatibles".
The game runs great now.

I hope this works for wc3.

Congratulations. I should be fine. They're not too different as far as that basic setup goes.
