Patches don't work...

GreyKnight

Spaceman
I've only just discovered this website and I have to say I'm pleased the WC community is alive and kicking!

I have downloaded the high-res patch for WCP and installed it successfully, however there is little obvious difference in the resolution of the game! In addition the cross-hair has gone from the HUD - ie, I cannot target anything. The video still doesn't work quite right (still get stuttering despite turning off audio hardware acceleration) and things generally don't seem much better than before... It's a shame really.

my system

Pentium 4, 1.5Ghz
768Mb RD-RAM
64Mb GeForce 3

Anybody got any ideas?

I haven't tried the hi-res patch for WCP, but it's supposed to be based on the one for SO, and I assure you, there's definitely a difference. :) You sure you've selected a higher resolution?

Also, certain targeting reticles (eg stormfire) don't always appear in Direct3D mode, dunno if that applies to your situation.

What OS are you playing WCP in? I'm not sure if that can affect the playing of FMV.

Wedge009 is right. If you use Direct3d the stormfire target will not appear and other weapon`s cross-hairs are unusuall.
The patch is not supposed to correct these things ,its has nothing to do with it.It just increases/dicreases the resolution. Also ofcourse it doesnt correct the Prophecy`s Video Problem :(

WC4 DVD not playing because of VirtualProtect() failed. when I try to start it.

Hi all, yes, it's 2005, I know, this thread has been closed two years ago...
But... through E-bay I had the chance of getting a copy of this best game ever.
I was so thrilled that I wanted to start seeing the start secuence ... but... indeed, the very same problem occured.

I also have the Killrathi saga with a possibility to play WC4 under Win95.
I was able to play WC4 on CD-rom, even with my XP-computer, but ... the DVD version now gives only that error.

Hopefully someone had found out what the problem was about...
By ticking the error message into google I found this thread.

Please put WC4 in the subject if you write me.
THANKS!!!!!!!!!

Did you get it to install at least? Have you set the wc4 executable to win95/98 compatability mode? (right-click on the executable and and click properties... its the third tab)

So what's the problem? Does it have anything to do with the reticule or high res patch? For WC4 DVD, yeah, you'll need the patch. I don't understand what you're asking about the other stuff.
