P2 Save

I'm gonna ask what I'm sure is an obvious question, but I have searched this forum (not to mention the internet) up & down & can't find an answer. How do you save in Privateer 2 - The Darkening? By hitting Alt-X I exit to the Load screen but there doesn't seem to be a save option. The manual I have is singularly lacking in this detail.

Curiously, appart from this one issue, I seem to be able to run P2 just fine in a Win98 DOS window, something that seems to give a lot of other people problems. I just create shortcuts to the install.exe (on the CD) and afterwards to dark.exe files, go to properties for the shortcut, program, advanced & tick the "Prevent MSDOS programs from detecting windows", so far so good. I just can't find where to save.
 
Do you mean my PAD? If so is there a key sequence because i don't have a save option, just a choice of destinations on the planet. I think i must be missing a manual, bought the game 2nd hand. If you don't mean the PAD where should I be (space/planetside) to get to the PDA?

Ah yeah - it is the same PAD you use to select destinations. But you an do more with the PAD in the game if you open it yourself:
Activate PAD (on base only): P
And don't worry - many many people myself included missed that referenc in the original manual.
