Origin FX Drivers

I think I have figured out how to get my old Wing Commander 2 game to work. Now when I try to start it the game says that there was a failure to load the Origin FX drivers. Does anyone understand what this means and can you help me?

Have you installed the Game ??????
Do you copy the Wing2 directory to Hd ????
this problem is becuase the configuration of the install was not writed to the HD.

stumped

I'm sorry if I am becoming a problem, but this is really frustrating me. I have tried copying Wing2 to the hard drive and even the entire cd. The best I get is either it asks me for an installation disk or it asks me which drive to copy from and then stalls. When I execute winstall .bat/.exe it either restarts the computer or gives me a directory that doesn't exist that it wants to install the game to. I have been using msdos prompt most of the time and for accessing the F:. The most I can get from the game now are the animated scenes. I am stumped.

How are you starting the game?

It sounds like you're trying to run the game out of a different directory... In that case it can't find the rest of the WC2 files and it complains by saying it can't find the OFX drivers.

I believe if that's a problem you're getting while running WC2 from the HD, you're supposed to remove the read-only attributes of the files and directories.

It works! Well, almost,

I have been able to get it to install and I was able to play it; however, I now can't figure out how to get my joystick to work. I tried ctrl-j, but it does not respond. I know my Force Feedback Pro joystic does work becaus when I tried loading the game before I installed it using the mission selector command: play-wc2 1 A, before I saw the cinematic sequence I could calibrate the joystick. Does anyone have any ideas?

And don't even think that you'll get Force Feedback...
Unless you got a FF emulator of course :P
Can still only give direct reactions and no actions to in game events however.
(Shaking when you pull trigger, but no reaction when you are hit)

No can do... Came bundled with my Stick and only works with it I suppose. Needs a joystick connected to a COM port...

You could try CCM
http://www.simsystems.com.au/
If that works for you. Did not work on my stick.

As for working OS. My emulator goes DOS and Windows. It is not a TSR! It does directly save into the hardware.
CCM is win9x only, but works in a DOS window.
