I want to know how difficult it is to configure a newer pc with XP to run the older games like WC 1,2, and the add-ons like secret missions and secret ops. If I attain copies of the games, how hard is it to get my system to run them properly?

From what I've heard, it can be quite difficult. And even harder to play, at least WC1, since it will run incredibly fast. You might want to try finding an old 386 to play the older games on.

if u do a dual boot with 98, it is easy to configure the old games, otherwise forget about configuring XP to play them, it is not possible to play them correctly in XP. i'd recommend keeping ur old computer to play WC

If you are able, setup your newer PC to run good ol' DOS in a dual-boot situation.

You don't even need to bother w/ MS-DOS; get DR-DOS 7.02 (which is free for personal use, and can see FAT32 partitions w/ the proper add-on). That way you can have it all under one roof, so to speak. The only problem might be w/ WCP; I haven't heard any reports yea or nay as to whether that runs OK under XP. SInce it's Win 9x-based, though, it prolly should run OK, I would think...

Use moslo or similar to slow things down sufficiently for the older DOS games (well, mainly just WC1, from my experience). You'll need to tweak it to find out what setting works best for your PC. Running a 300 Mhz machine, I found about 45% worked good for me.
