Odd Prophecy bug

Hi all. Confirmed WC fan replaying all the games. No real problems up to Prophecy where I have run into a strange bug I am hoping you can help me with.

Flying the Confed craft, I burst out of the Midway each time at the craft's top cruising speed. Autopilot to Nav 1 and every time the speed locks at 144/6km depending on what I am flying. Afterburner gives me the max 1200/1300 km but when I relax from afterburners, I go back to crawling. My wingmen don't have this problem.

Running the game on XP sp2 with no compatibility mode ticked, SLI 6600gt, M$ Sidewinder on a game port (it regularly needs recalibration but still works well). I have the hi-res movie packs downloaded and installed.

I am at a loss to fix this. It is the only problem I have had up to the current game, the perimeter sweep in T'Lan Meth, and it is driving me crazy. Has anyone had this hassle and managed to fix it?

Have done a forum search but can't find anything that helps. :mad:

What happens when you use the throttle control on your stick or press the + and - key on the keyboard?
 
Throttle control on the stick works the same as the + and - keys. Drops back to 0 then rises to the 146 or whatever speed. I have tried remapping the throttle keys to no avail. The \ key only sets the speed at 146 as well. Yet before I hit the auto button and am still at the Midway, I can get the 400+ top speed for each craft without a problem. :(

I expend an awful lot of afterburner fuel these days and have run out a couple of times.

When the fights are close round the nav points I generally don't have a problem but when some of the aliens are 500,000k away, it takes a long time to get to them at the reduced speed, and I need them dead for the auto light to come on.
 
Have you adjusted the ship's power management system? That will increase/decrease the top speed of your craft.
 
You have hit it on the head ChrisReid. I had massively boosted the gun power. Once I cut that, speed rose to the right level.
