Did you see this opera? See I'm a little culturally-challenged so I would not have known what to expect when I got there anyway. Did no one have any idea that the modernized piece was going to feature any of that bad stuff?
 
Hey man, naked chicks aren't necessarily bad - just tasteless.

Isn't it funny how "modern" in this context means "full of naked people and violence?" The world is full of crazy people.
 
I'm pretty sure no one would care about this director if he wasn't using famous operas and I'm sure less than one would care if he didn't ruin them to create "controversy". I'd say they should go ahead and create brand new operas full of controversy, but opera is pretty dead anyway. It's insanely hard to assemble an orchestra for a performance and infinitely harder to get together the facilities to add actors and sets to that. That's ok though, there are plenty of new mediums for dramatic music in this day and age.
 
unfortunately, almost all the new mediums (all the biggest ones, at least) either suck or are sheep factories. they call them pop culture junkies for a reason.

True, but that's hardly the fault of the mediums, and the opportunity is still there even if an audience isn't.
 
Hey, now that you mentioned wing commander and laser lights, is there a Wing Commander Community on ORKUT??? Are any of you guys in orkut, BTW?

In this particularly sense, I must agree with you absolutely, Dyret.
It was in my eyes a shame, to implement this... this sounds... noises. ;)
(Luckily they only appears in the simulator and through "cheat codes").
But I think, it exists worse thinks - have you ever heard real techno, I mean that gay parade techno?

Orchestral Music is the only right and worthy music enviroment to WC, IMHO.
Or some military drumming as a confederation theme
(Metal (despite all of its genres) isn't the right thing for WC).
 
I thought the Cobalt 60 stuff was okay - it's kind of exciting and it goes with the feel of the game. I've always preferred the orchestral music... but I certainly don't mind the fact that half of my Wing soundtrack collection is Cobalt 60 CDs.
 
I don't want to say that the soundtracks (exclude the phantastical score from George Oldziey) are too bad, in a closer look, they are industrial music and a bit tolerable (pop, hipphopp & rap would be annoying) - but not a "must hear". This is just my personal impression and everybody has their own taste. :)
