New improved HUDs

Eder

Mr. Standoff
Thanks to Mr. Filler of UE's HUD fame, I learned how to fix our previous non-antialiased HUDs. So I went and fixed them. So here's a few shots of one of my latest (last?) contributions to the Prologue... new HUDs for all ships!

You can check out a few old HUD shots for comparison here:

Note that the Gladius' weapon display in the new shot still hasn't been redone, while the Rapier's has. These new HUDs are specially great in that they scale to different resolutions much more nicely than the old ones... and also in that they don't look like crap on NVidia video cards (like the old ones did, on my Geforce FX 5200 card for example).

Very good. The old ones really had some ugly jagged edges, specially the shield indicator.

The enemy shield indicator looked a bit better on non-nvidia cards (you can see this in some screenshots on the site which were taken on Quarto's machine), but this is better all around, on all cards. :)

I haven't done a comparison, but didn't the old ones have rather jagged pictures for the fighter profile on the left HUD? It might not fit in with the updated graphics philosophy, but I thought it was a nice reference to the original HUDs of WC2...

Nice work. :D

I still think that that auto-pilot light needs some modifications, which is pretty ugly at least in my opinion.

Hmm, it's actually one of my favorite new bits. Now it actually looks like a display that gets lit up, IMHO.
