Neutron Guns

At this point...the experiment has some limited practical uses as I understand it. Perhaps when they further refine it...

Nice find.

The reaction gave off an isotope of helium along with subatomic particles known as neutrons, a characteristic of fusion. The experiment did not, however, produce more energy than the amount put in -- an achievement that would be a huge breakthrough.

Hmmm, would this mean that if such an achievement was possible, real neutron guns in the future would actually POWER THEMSELVES?!?! (and then some!)

In 2618, Eduardo Rosado, a Goddard native, invented the Neutron Gun, one of the Confederation's most effective weapons.

No, I don't think that's what it means at all, since the theory discussed in the article has nothing to do with any sort of guns. What it's saying is that a fusion power plant would create more energy than the energy expended to fuel the plant, a basic requirement for any power plant to be feasible.

Indeed, effective damage-wise, but they were energy hogs.

Oh well, that makes sense in terms of gameplay, since having the most powerful gun in the game [WC1] use no energy (or actually regenerate it) would make it super powerful and unbalanced.

Still, that would be pretty neat!
