Need help with WC4 on XP

Hi everybody. I'm a first timer trying to get the old games working on XP so I need a little help getting WC4 working.

First I tried to run it with DOSbox. The install went fine, but when I try to run the game I get:

C:\>wc4\wc4
Loading Wing Commander IV.
System RAM checks out OK.
Parsing command line.
Linking in video DLL.
Opening game sequence.
Open failed on file: .\GLOBALS.IFF

Then it tells me to make a bootdisk which would be fine but I don't have a floppy disk drive. Is there any way to fix this?

I then tried running it from Windows Explorer by changing the properties of the app to compatibility Windows 95 or 98. This gets the game running, but it basically locks up right away. I can get to the 'Duty Roster' screen, but my mouse moves choppy and sporadically. Am I missing a patch or something?

THe compatability mode is essential if you are running the win95 patch. I recommend intalling the patch (found in the CICs files section). http://download.wcnews.com/files/wing4/wc4win95.zip
