Need a solution for WC3 on WINXP SP3

I read this post: WC3 on WINXP SP2, 100% working solution .

I like the idea it sounds good. Dosbox just does not get WC3 working the way I want it to, to slow.

I tied it but does not seem to work. Wc3 initialises in dos but then bombs out.
The installation was fine, even got Midi music, something I have never had.

I did get a error message "global.dll" something or other.
I played around a bit, now I get no error message, it just crashes.
WC3 still initialises in dos, " Vesa compatible card..." then
"Wing commander III
.
.
.
." and so on, then it kick me out.

I have Win XP SP3 installed, could this be a problem?
Any ideas?:(

Dos version

This is the original DOS version. That is one of the reasons we use VDM and dosbox.

Back to basics

Your right on that one.
Its usually the simplist mistakes that are the cause of the problem.::)
I visited your retro gaming on youtube, pretty cool. The wing 1 clip brought back memories.

I don't think SP3 introduces anything that causes incompatibility. I've never used vdm sound, but have you tried setting it up without music and running? At least then you'd have isolated your problem.
