Movie Playback Problems in W98 WCP Gold

I recently bought the Prophecy Gold edition for Windows 95/98. I have 256MB of RAM, a P800, and a Creative Labs Annihilator 2 GTS Card (Geforce 2 GTS) with the latest drivers. I am pretty sure that I am running DirectX 8.0. Whenever the movies play in the game, they play like they are fast forwarding. They are fine one second, and then skip ahead a few seconds. This happens repeatedly, so I have no idea what the people are saying. When I enable subtitles, I cannot even read the screen fast enough to understand what is going on. Do you have any ideas of what the problem might be, or any patches that would help me? The game play itself seems to be fine, but the videos are a mess, which is too bad, because I have always liked the video portions of the WC games.

Well have you tried searching for dxdiag.exe and then setting the sound acceleration to off?
It worked for me :)
 
Where can I find that?

How/where do I find that program? Is it a part of the video card software, Windows, or WCP?

simply go to the Run feature on the Start menu. type in "dxdiag" without the quotes. The program will run. Go to the sound tab and set the slider all the way to the left. Exit the program and WCP should work fine.
 
It worked!

Thanks to everyone for your help. I ran dxdiag and set the sound hardware acceleration to 0, and everything works fine now. Thanks again for your help, now I can play the game and enjoy the storyline as well!
