More Privateer

Hello. I hate to beat the horse, but I am having Privateer problems like everyone else.

First let me say that I got Privateer to work on a previous incarnation of my computer with a creative SBLive Value. It was not too hard after following what I read in several threads here about a year and a half ago.

Now I have rebuilt the computer (new motherboard, processor, memory and hard drive) and am again having problems with the SBLive Value.

I read a thread where someone was having the computer lock-up when they typed the "Priv" command. I too had this problem.
When I removed the SBEINIT command from the autoexec.bat, the game started fine...albeit without any sound.

This tells me I have an IRQ problem and I am hunting it down. With the new motherboard, I think the IRQs are getting assigned differently. I'm sure I will eventually make my way back into the Gemini Sector.

My real question to all out there is this...

I have an all PCI motherboard now. What is the most fully-featured DOS-compatible PCI sound card?

I am tired of the SBLive problems and am ready to change. I was thinking along the lines of the AWE64 or AWE Gold. Were these PCI cards? Are there any suggestions out there?

The most compatible is probably the live :)

(sorry I had to do that).

Seriously though... what OS are you running... if you're running 95/98, get the CTSYN.INI file from the win9x install, and copy it over your old ctsyn.ini - and copy the values inside the ini to the SET BLASTER= line.
