I don't know if anyone here has any suggestions for me or not, but I am not having luck anywhere else so I thought I would give this a try. I just finished reinstalling everything on my old Pentium III 700 mhz Windows 98 machine. This isn't my primary computer but i wanted to get it up and running again to play some of my old games that I used to enjoy. One of these games is Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator II: WWII Pacific Theater.
I installed this game and started running it. Once i got into the mission though i noticed that my plane was just black on the outside, there were no colors to it. The plane was just solid black. This was the same for other planes you encounter in the game, none of them had any color to them. the Sky, the ground all appear fine though, as does your instrument panel when you are inside the plane.
I have tried adjusting the graphics settings, turning just about everything on and off. I've tried reinstalling the game multiple times. None of this has fixed it. I am wondering if maybe i am missing some sort of update to windows or some other little feature, but I don't know a lot about computers, besides how to install a program and run the machine, so i don't know what it would be. I have installed all the windows 98 updates i could find through microsoft.
All of my other games that i've tried run fine and don't have this problem, including CFS1 and CFS3. I also have the latest drivers for my graphics card.
Any ideas as to what the problem may be or what i could try?
