Making the Xwing Alliance WCTC Work

I recently rediscovered my original copy of Xwing Alliance burried under a pile of dust so I want to try out this WCTC for it to get a Wing Commander fix.
Can you please translate the above line into english for me? It is from the readme in the XwingAlliance WCTC. I only have basic modding skills and have never heard of the .ZT file extension before so any help you can offer would be great.

ZT patcher is a program to apply ship packs to X-Wing. Since I'm not really into the XWing scene anymore, just google "ZT patcher" or "creating a *.ZT file". I'm sure you'll find a tutorial on some modder page.
