Kilrathi Saga - WC2 keyboard lag.

Afternoon,

I'm playing through Kilrathi Saga, it's the first time I've used it in in XP and had no issues running it in Windows 98SE (although this CD hasn't seen the light of day in about seven years.)

WC1 - No issues
SM1 - No issues
SM2 - No issues

WC2 - Choppy cutscenes (tolerable) but highly unresponsive keyboard controls!!

Afterburner and guns/missiles keys all function as normal.
Arrow keys: Really slow to respond. Hold down on the downward arrow to pitch up, and the hand in the cockpit starts to pull back about 2-3 seconds of holding. Same for left and right, basically makes the game unplayable - and I've having exactly the same issue with SO1 and SO2.

I want to play WC2 on the keyboard because that's how I got through it the first time around, I prefer keys for WC1/WC2 and 'stick for WC3 onwards. Just a personal preference.

Any advice?

It sounds like the choppy cutscenes are related. For whatever reason, the game is getting slowed down. It could be continued compatibility issues. Did you try Mincemeat's superpatch?

Actually more sounds like normal WC2 arrow keys to me. They changed the arrow keys to respond more precise (and much slower) in WC2, so it could be that -danr- is just referring to that. Its so long that I played with keyboard controls that I don't remember the keys for sure, but try holding either shift, alt or ctrl while pressing the arrow keys. One of that combos should enable faster response.

Shift plus Arrows doubled the speed in WC3, but I don't believe that carried into Kilrathi Saga.

Thanks for the answers, Mincemeat's patch doesn't seem to have worked this time, but I've had some luck with the advice given - holding shift seems to unlock the responses of the arrow keys, but unfortunately you can't press anything else at the same time (hence can't fly and fight this way.)
