Kilrathi Saga sound

Hey, playing Kilrathi Saga again on XP and the sound just isn't working out. I have it in Win 95 compatibility mode just to work at all. When I play WC1, the sound crackles a little but it's bearable. However, with WC2 it not only crackles but freezes,or usually skips and repeats like a broken record. It sucks. I have a Sound Blaster Live and have turned the hardware acceleration off through dxdiag but to no avail. Anyone have a solution to this?
 
Hm. I always thought that sound problems were inherent to WC2 in the Kilrathi Saga. At least with speech, anyway. It's never worked quite properly for me, even when I was playing it on a real Win95 machine.
 
Hmm, no I don't think so. I never had a problem with the sound when I played it under Win 95. Anyone else have a suggestion?
