Kilrathi Escort, another Lt.Overload mission

Lt.Overload

Rear Admiral
Hi all, here's another fan-mission by yours truly! This one is for Secret Ops. The .zip includes two text files, one with mission info and the other with file info. It also includes the actual mission (s0.mis), and finally, a COMPLETELY FAN-MADE SECTOR FILE! That's right, included in this is a a.sec customized for this exact mission. It uses several beta objects never before seen in the game, and one planet from the first missions of Secret Ops! I hope you all enjoy this, and expect more to come soon! I'm also not ashamed to admit this mission were not made with WCPPascal, but with the very underused MISB! It was also tweaked with a bit of Origin MED. :) So enjoy! OH! Almost forgot, the .zip includes 3 screenshots from the mission, showing off the sexy new blue sector!

Download the Secret Ops Mission Simulator from the Files section. You may want to install upgrade a or b as well. Check the readme's for a detailed description of what they do.

To add the sector file, simply place "a.sec" in the mission folder. Whenever you play a mission that uses "a.sec" as the space (background), you will see my newly created version.

does this mission actually include kilrathi pilots? if yes, how did you manage to transfer prophecy pilots (since the kilrahti pilots only appear in prophecy) to secret ops

Aww but that spoils the surprise
Only read this if you played the sim already or want to spoil it for yourself
The cats are dead by the time you get there, so no cat comms. :)

The mission and sector look great, but I'd also like to compliment you on your announcement post here. It's a HUGE improvement from your last one ( http://www.crius.net/zone/showthread.php?threadid=25255 ). I frequently go back to various authors and ask for background info on how something was made, for easy instructions on how to install something, for screenshots, a list of key features and so on. I don't really expect most people to be looking for the same items as me, but it definitely makes it much easier if people pitch their stuff as if they were talking to someone who doesn't know at all how their fan project works.

Thank you. I tried to give as much information as possible. :)

Yeah, it was pretty clever. :)

Mission looks cool, I'll give it a try when I get SO up and running again.

Very clever Chris, very cleaver :p

My next mission will include the same a.sec for those who didn't download the first mission. They're exactly the same though. The new zip will also include a total of 5 screenshots. There will also be a new .mgi (music) for the mission. And finally you'll be able to fly to a certain old ship (which you'll use to send the bugs to hell). ;) I'm really going all out with this mission.

The downloads have landed!

Okay guys, here it is, the final mission in this little campaign, "Blasting the Cap Blaster!" Included in the .zip is the mission, the new flyable ship, the new music, mission info, the sector (just in case), and a LOAD of screenshots (which hint at the ship you fly ;) )! As before, everything was made with MISB and MED. Instructions on what files do what and where to place them are in the zip!

Download "Blasting the Cap Blaster" Here!

Also, I made a complete zip called the "Kraken Campaign Mission Pack", it includes all missions, text, sectors, screenshots, and new ships that replace the Tigershark and Wasp in the simulator! It also includes a new .mgi I made myself for the first mission! It's a must-have if you didn't get the first zip!

Download "Kraken Campaign Mission Pack" Here!

Enjoy!

Oh! Oh! Spoilers in the screenshots!
In case you can't tell, you'll fly an Excalibur. And in the complete pack, Thunderbolts replace the Tigershark and Wasp. Simple edits yes, but it's something we've all wanted to fly in Secret Ops!

It's kinda funny, I read on Primarch's website the tools he used, and I've used the same throughout my modding career. It is almost like I'm the Primarch of today. :D

Thanks Jason! I also wanna thank ChrisReid for putting it on the Current News, thanks so much, it was so awesome to see my own work on the site.

I'm trying these out but having some problems. I can't seem to get to use the new ships. I noticed that your ship files are different that the ones in the ships directory. For example, you have Piranha.iff, the old file is PIRANHB.IFF. I renamed the files to match, but I still get the usual ships.

I tried the first mission, went to the Nav point, no Kilrathi, just a ridiculous lot of Mantas and a few Devil Rays. Is that normal, or am I having another bug?

Also, mission 8 and 9 in the simulator causes SECRETOP.EXE to crash, I think that that's normal, though.

I think the mission #'s are 0 and 1 ....... should be the upper most left and the uppermost right in the simulator..... the 1st mission (Upper Left) has alot of Heavy Fighters....while the second mission (Upper Right) has the fighter remnants and the Kraken.

As far as the ships are concerned.....I dunno ya gotta ask Overlord...I was using other ships.

Yeah, the missions are (well, designed) to work on the first two bars of the simulator. I'm also guessing your using the Black Simulator, in which all ships use their black variants, which I've only used once and have no knowledge of. You may need to insert WCPedit and maybe try swapping them from there.

As for the first missions ships, no cats, they were all destroyed.

I'm using the simulator from the files section of CIC, it does use the black variants. Where can I get the other simulator?

Well, after renaming the files correctly, I got weirder results. The replacement for the Piranha looks like a Vampire, shoots Chain Ion and alien Light Plasma, and has 10 LRIR, 20 ELRIR, and 55 Mosquitos. It also goes 2700 kps with afterburners. I hope that wasn't intended.

To get the normal version, just add the "cerberus.rom" without the new Secretops.exe

Also I tested the ship out and strangely I got a Vampire  I really don't know how that happened, expect a fix very very soon.

Okay, now that I'm using the regular Secretops.exe and the new version, I'm getting an Excalibur. On the other hand, the Excalibur has Lasers that don't fire and only two ELRIRs and one anti-rad missile. The Thunderbolt seems to work okay, although flying it into your missions is suicide.

Thanks for the work you've put into this. I really appreciate having new WC stuff to try.
