Jump-Space

I don't know if you've played Super Wing Commander I played through it on a power mac but two of the film scenes showed a group of hornets and raptors around the Claw when it jumps out with a fleet, but I think the proximity to the Claw allowed them to jump out with the carrier. Because they disappear and reappear with the Claw in the next system.

Drizzt has hit on a good point--we often see multiple ships Jumping together. It seems that a ship merely needs to stay within the "jump bubble" of a vessel with a Jump Drive to complete a Jump--remember that in the Jump Drive FAQ it says that anything within about half a kilometer of the antigraviton generator can Jump with the generator.

I can't remember exactly, but I *think* every ship in SWC has its own little jump flash, which would suggest that they're simply jump capable Raptors and Hornets.

The biggest problem is Wing Commander III, where the Victory and her escorts all enter a single hole simultaneously...

How big was the TCS Behemoth??

How does a battlegoup to jump together??

How does a battlegoup to jump together??

With the exception of WC3 (which LOAF mentioned), jump capacity ships jump one at a time. The novel Fleet Action shows us the dangers behind trying to rush at a jump point (ship goes in one end, and then gets spit out as debris on the other side)

IIRC the Behemoth (and other outsized vessels) circumvents the half-kilometer-radius limit by having multiple perfectly synchronized jump engines to cover the entire vessel. If the engines ever fell out of synch, then the ship would be torn apart.

I'm not sure this is actually explained anywhere. Keep in mind that the 'size limitation' was an obscure novel reference until the Confederation Handbook included a lengthy jump physics explanation. I'm sure the people behind WC3 gave it no thought when they created the Behemoth and the Kilrathi dreadnaught.

Thanks, I had the doubt...

... By the way, what does IIRC mean??:D

Besides, does anyone know where I can find a more in depth description on jump technology??
